In Brein's words

I've edited writing about software since 2005. The pieces that last answer the reader's question in the first paragraph.

Questions for Brein

How do you decide which guides to write?
We start from the questions people actually search for and the tools they use, then write one guide that answers one question fully. If a topic needs two different answers, it gets two guides.
What do you change most when you edit a guide?
The opening. Writers often warm up for a paragraph before they get to the answer. I move the answer to the top and cut what came before it.
How do you keep guides accurate?
Every guide has a reviewer with a computer science or engineering background, and their name is on it. An editor can make a guide clearer, but only someone who knows the subject can say it's right.
