About Tomeshia

Tomeshia Brock is a manual QA tester in Jacksonville, Florida, who tests web apps and iOS and Android apps. At Loop Software and Testing Services she reviewed system specifications, wrote test plans and logged defects across several test phases. Before that she trained in manual QA with Careerist, where she wrote test cases in TestRail and tracked bugs in Jira. She holds a bachelor's degree in information technology from Georgia Gwinnett College. On binarytranslator.ai she checks tools on phones and desktop browsers before release.

In Tomeshia's words

I test the way a student would use the tool: on a phone, in a hurry, pasting text from somewhere else. If it works for that person, it works.

Questions for Tomeshia

How do you check a tool on mobile?
I run it on iOS and Android, in portrait and landscape. Pasted text matters a lot, because copied binary often brings extra spaces or line breaks, and the tool has to read it anyway.
How do you keep track of test cases?
I write them before I start, the way I learned with TestRail, so every tool gets the same checks. Anything that fails gets logged with the steps to reproduce, so the fix can be tested against the same case.
Which mistake do users make most?
Putting input in the wrong box. Someone pastes binary into the text box and gets a longer string of 0s and 1s back. Clear labels and a swap button fix more of that than any instructions can.
